PURPOSE: T1 mapping is a widely used quantitative MRI technique, but its tissue-specific values remain inconsistent across protocols, sites, and vendors. The ISMRM Reproducible Research and Quantitative MR study groups jointly launched a challenge to assess the reproducibility of a well-established inversion-recovery T1 mapping technique, using acquisition details from a seminal T1 mapping paper on a standardized phantom and in human brains. METHODS: The challenge used the acquisition protocol from Barral et al. (2010). Researchers collected T1 mapping data on the ISMRM/NIST phantom and/or in human brains. Data submission, pipeline development, and analysis were conducted using open-source platforms. Intersubmission and intrasubmission comparisons were performed. RESULTS: Eighteen submissions (39 phantom and 56 human datasets) on scanners by three MRI vendors were collected at 3 T (except one, at 0.35 T). The mean coefficient of variation was 6.1% for intersubmission phantom measurements, and 2.9% for intrasubmission measurements. For humans, the intersubmission/intrasubmission coefficient of variation was 5.9/3.2% in the genu and 16/6.9% in the cortex. CONCLUSION: The T1 intersubmission variability was twice as high as the intrasubmission variability in both phantoms and human brains, indicating that the acquisition details in the original paper were insufficient to reproduce a quantitative MRI protocol. This study reports the inherent uncertainty in T1 measures across independent research groups, bringing us one step closer to a practical clinical baseline of T1 variations in vivo.

CRISPR-mediated base editors have been widely used to correct defective alleles and create novel alleles by artificial evolution in rapid genetic improvement of crops. The editing capabilities of base editors strictly rely on the performance of various nucleotide modification enzymes. Compared to the well-developed adenine base editors (ABEs), cytosine base editors (CBEs) and dual base editors suffer from unstable editing efficiency and pattern at different genomic loci in rice, significantly limiting their application. Here, the activities of multiple evolved TadA8e variants in base editing have been comprehensively examined in rice. We found that both TadA-CDd and TadA-E27R/N46L achieve more robust C-to-T editing than previously reported hyperactive hAID*Δ, whereas TadA-CDd outperformed TadA-E27R/N46L. Also, the C-to-G base editor (CGBE) engineered with TadA-CDd and OsUNG performs highly efficient C-to-G editing in rice compared to TadA-N46P. In addition, the dual base editor, which was constructed with a single protein TadDE, enables simultaneously edit C-to-T and A-to-G at high efficiency in rice. Collectively, our study demonstrates that TadA8e derivatives improve both CBE and dual base editor in rice, provide a powerful way in inducing diverse nucleotide substitutions for plant genome editing.

Hydrogen is gaining tremendous traction in China as the fuel of the future to support the country's carbon neutrality ambition. Despite that hydrogen as fuel largely hinges on the supply of platinum (Pt), the dynamic interlinkage between Pt supply challenges, hydrogen development pathways, and climate targets in China has yet to be deeply analyzed. Here, we adopt an integrated assessment model to address this important concern and corresponding strategies for China. The results indicate that the booming hydrogen development would drive China's cumulative demand for Pt metal to reach 4,200-5,000 tons. Much of this demand, met through a limited supply pattern, is vulnerable to price volatility and heightened geopolitical risks, which can be mitigated through circular economy strategies. Consequently, a coordinated approach to leverage both global sustainable Pt sourcing and a robust domestic Pt circular economy is imperative for ensuring cost-effective hydrogen production, aligned with a climate-safe future.

Background: Chronic fatigue is a predominant symptom of post COVID-19 condition, or long COVID. We aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Traditional, Complementary and Integrative Medicine (TCIM) for fatigue post COVID-19 infection. Methods: Ten English and Chinese language databases and grey literature were searched up to 12 April 2023 for randomized controlled trials (RCTs). Cochrane "Risk of bias" (RoB) tool was applied. Evidence certainty was assessed using Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE). Effect estimates were presented as risk ratio (RR) or mean difference (MD) with 95% confidence interval (CI). Results: Thirteen RCTs with 1632 participants were included. One RCT showed that Bufei Huoxue herbal capsules reduced fatigue (n=129, MD -14.90, 95%CI -24.53 to -5.27), one RCT reported that Ludangshen herbal liquid lowered fatigue (n=184, MD -1.90, 95%CI -2.38 to -1.42), and the other one RCT shown that fatigue disappearance rate was higher with Ludangshen herbal liquid (n=184, RR 4.19, 95%CI 2.06 to 8.53). Compared to traditional Chinese medicine rehabilitation (TCM-rahab) alone, one RCT showed that fatigue symptoms were lower following Qingjin Yiqi granules plus TCM-rehab (n=388, MD -0.48, 95%CI -0.50 to -0.46). Due to concerns with RoB and/or imprecision, the certainty in this evidence was low to very low. No serious adverse events was reported. Conclusions: Limited evidence suggests that various TCIM interventions might reduce post COVID-19 fatigue. Larger, high quality RCTs of longer duration are required to confirm these preliminary findings. Study Registration: The protocol of this review has been registered at PROSPERO: CRD42022384136.

Dipeptidyl peptidase-IV (DPP-IV) inhibiting peptides have attracted increased attention because of their possible beneficial effects on glycemic homeostasis. However, the structural basis underpinning their activities has not been well understood. This study combined computational and in vitro investigations to explore the structural basis of DPP-IV inhibitory peptides. We first superimposed the Xaa-Pro-type peptide-like structures from several crystal structures of DPP-IV ligand-protein complexes to analyze the recognition interactions of DPP-IV to peptides. Thereafter, a small set of Xaa-Pro-type peptides was designed to explore the effect of key interactions on inhibitory activity. The intramolecular interaction of Xaa-Pro-type peptides at the first and third positions from the N-terminus was pivotal to their inhibitory activities. Residue interactions between DPP-IV and residues of the peptides at the fourth and fifth positions of the N-terminus contributed significantly to the inhibitory effect of Xaa-Pro-type tetrapeptides and pentapeptides. Based on the interaction descriptors, quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) studies with the DPP-IV inhibitory peptides resulted in valid models with high R2 values (0.90 for tripeptides; 0.91 for tetrapeptides and pentapeptides) and Q2 values (0.33 for tripeptides; 0.68 for tetrapeptides and pentapeptides). Taken together, the structural information on DPP-IV and peptides in this study facilitated the development of novel DPP-IV inhibitory peptides.

Facile and rapid 3D fabrication of strong, bioactive materials can address challenges that impede repair of large-to-massive rotator cuff tears including personalized grafts, limited mechanical support, and inadequate tissue regeneration. Herein, we developed a facile and rapid methodology that generates visible light-crosslinkable polythiourethane (PHT) pre-polymer resin (∼30 min at room temperature), yielding 3D-printable scaffolds with tendon-like mechanical attributes capable of delivering tenogenic bioactive factors. Ex vivo characterization confirmed successful fabrication, robust human supraspinatus tendon (SST)-like tensile properties (strength: 23 MPa, modulus: 459 MPa, at least 10,000 physiological loading cycles without failure), excellent suture retention (8.62-fold lower than acellular dermal matrix (ADM)-based clinical graft), slow degradation, and controlled release of fibroblast growth factor-2 (FGF-2) and transforming growth factor-ß3 (TGF-ß3). In vitro studies showed cytocompatibility and growth factor-mediated tenogenic-like differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells. In vivo studies demonstrated biocompatibility (3-week mouse subcutaneous implantation) and ability of growth factor-containing scaffolds to notably regenerate at least 1-cm of tendon with native-like biomechanical attributes as uninjured shoulder (8-week, large-to-massive 1-cm gap rabbit rotator cuff injury). This study demonstrates use of a 3D-printable, strong, and bioactive material to provide mechanical support and pro-regenerative cues for challenging injuries such as large-to-massive rotator cuff tears.

With improvements in survival for patients with metastatic cancer, long-term local control of brain metastases has become an increasingly important clinical priority. While consensus guidelines recommend surgery followed by stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) for lesions >3 cm, smaller lesions (≤3 cm) treated with SRS alone elicit variable responses. To determine factors influencing this variable response to SRS, we analyzed outcomes of brain metastases ≤3 cm diameter in patients with no prior systemic therapy treated with frame-based single-fraction SRS. Following SRS, 259 out of 1733 (15%) treated lesions demonstrated MRI findings concerning for local treatment failure (LTF), of which 202 /1733 (12%) demonstrated LTF and 54/1733 (3%) had an adverse radiation effect. Multivariate analysis demonstrated tumor size (>1.5 cm) and melanoma histology were associated with higher LTF rates. Our results demonstrate that brain metastases ≤3 cm are not uniformly responsive to SRS and suggest that prospective studies to evaluate the effect of SRS alone or in combination with surgery on brain metastases ≤3 cm matched by tumor size and histology are warranted. These studies will help establish multi-disciplinary treatment guidelines that improve local control while minimizing radiation necrosis during treatment of brain metastasis ≤3 cm.

Education expenditure is essential in mitigating air pollution, but the relationship between education expenditure and air pollution lacks in-depth discussion. Utilizing data at the county level in China during 2007-2021, this study estimates the effect of education expenditure from local governments on air pollution. Our findings demonstrate that education expenditure significantly and negatively affects air pollution, which remains robust after addressing endogeneity. The mechanism analysis presents that education expenditure reduces air pollution through the composition, technique, and income effects. The heterogeneity analysis indicates that the impact of education expenditure exhibits marked regional heterogeneity. Specifically, the role of education expenditure is significant in strong regulation, key, eastern, and central regions. By considering interaction terms, we identify the moderating effects of human capital, economic development, infrastructure construction, and public service for education expenditure. The cost-benefit analysis emphasizes that education expenditure improves social welfare. Our findings can inspire local governments to place more emphasis on air quality and public education expenditure.

Background: Glioblastoma (GBM) poses therapeutic challenges due to its aggressive nature, particularly for patients with poor functional status and/or advanced disease. Hypofractionated radiotherapy (RT) regimens have demonstrated comparable disease outcomes for this population while allowing treatment to be completed more quickly. Here, we report our institutional outcomes of patients treated with 2 hypofractionated RT regimens: 40 Gy/15fx (3w-RT) and 50 Gy/20fx (4w-RT). Methods: A single-institution retrospective analysis was conducted of 127 GBM patients who underwent 3w-RT or 4w-RT. Patient characteristics, treatment regimens, and outcomes were analyzed. Univariate and multivariable Cox regression models were used to estimate progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS). The impact of chemotherapy and RT schedule was explored through subgroup analyses. Results: Median OS for the entire cohort was 7.7 months. There were no significant differences in PFS or OS between 3w-RT and 4w-RT groups overall. Receipt and timing of temozolomide (TMZ) emerged as the variable most strongly associated with survival, with patients receiving adjuvant-only or concurrent and adjuvant TMZ having significantly improved PFS and OS (P < .001). In a subgroup analysis of patients that did not receive TMZ, patients in the 4w-RT group demonstrated a trend toward improved OS as compared to the 3w-RT group (P = .12). Conclusions: This study demonstrates comparable survival outcomes between 3w-RT and 4w-RT regimens in GBM patients. Receipt and timing of TMZ were strongly associated with survival outcomes. The potential benefit of dose-escalated hypofractionation for patients not receiving chemotherapy warrants further investigation and emphasizes the importance of personalized treatment approaches.

Spike length (SL) is one of the most important agronomic traits affecting yield potential and stability in wheat. In this study, a major stable quantitative trait locus (QTL) for SL, i.e., qSl-2B, was detected in multiple environments in a recombinant inbred line (RIL) mapping population, KJ-RILs, derived from a cross between Kenong 9204 (KN9204) and Jing 411 (J411). The qSl-2B QTL was mapped to the 60.06-73.06 Mb region on chromosome 2B and could be identified in multiple mapping populations. An InDel molecular marker in the target region was developed based on a sequence analysis of the two parents. To further clarify the breeding use potential of qSl-2B, we analyzed its genetic effects and breeding selection effect using both the KJ-RIL population and a natural mapping population, which consisted of 316 breeding varieties/advanced lines. The results showed that the qSl-2B alleles from KN9204 showed inconsistent genetic effects on SL in the two mapping populations. Moreover, in the KJ-RILs population, the additive effects analysis of qSl-2B showed that additive effect was higher when both qSl-2D and qSl-5A harbor negative alleles under LN and HN. In China, a moderate selection utilization rate for qSl-2B was found in the Huanghuai winter wheat area and the selective utilization rate for qSl-2B continues to increase. The above findings provided a foundation for the genetic improvement of wheat SL in the future via molecular breeding strategies.

Background: Improved coronary physiological function after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) has been shown to improve prognosis in stable ischaemic heart disease, but has not yet been explored in ST-segment elevated myocardial infarction (STEMI). The study sought to determine whether an improvement in the quantitative flow ratio (QFR) could improve the prognosis of STEMI patients undergoing primary PCI. Methods: Patients diagnosed with STEMI who were receiving primary PCI were recruited for the study. Those with thrombolysis in myocardial infarction (TIMI) flow <2 after wiring were excluded. The ΔQFR was calculated using the following formula: ΔQFR = post-PCI QFR - pre-stent QFR. The primary endpoint was the composite event, including recurrent myocardial infarction (MI) and acute heart failure (AHF). Results: In total, 515 STEMI patients with a median follow-up of 364 days were enrolled in the study. Based on the cut-off value from the receiver operator characteristic (ROC) curve, the patients were divided into the following two groups: the lower ΔQFR group (≤0.25, N=332); and the normal ΔQFR group (>0.25, N=183). Patients with a lower ΔQFR had a relatively higher rate of MI/AHF (10.5% vs. 4.4%, P=0.019) and AHF (7.2% vs. 2.7%, P=0.044). A lower ΔQFR was significantly associated with a higher incidence of MI/AHF [hazard ratio (HR) =2.962, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.358-6.459, P=0.006, respectively] after adjusting for potential confounders. Pre-stent angiographic microvascular resistance [odds ratio (OR) =1.027, 95% CI: 1.022-1.033, P<0.001] and the stent-to-vessel diameter ratio <1.13 (OR =1.766, 95% CI: 1.027-3.071, P=0.04) were independent predictors of a lower ΔQFR. Conclusions: An insufficient improvement in the QFR contributes to worsening outcomes and might be a useful tool for risk stratification in STEMI.

The lungs are the largest surface of the body and the most important organ in the respiratory system, which are constantly exposed to the external environment. Tissue Resident Macrophages in lung constitutes the important defense against external pathogens. Macrophages connects the innate and adaptive immune system, and also plays important roles in carcinogenesis and cancer immunotherapy. Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide, with an overall five-year survival rate of only 21%. Macrophages that infiltrate or aggregate in lung tumor microenvironment are defined as tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs). TAMs are the main components of immune cells in the lung tumor microenvironment. The differentiation and maturation process of TAMs can be roughly divided into two different types: classical activation pathway produces M1 tumor-associated macrophages, and bypass activation pathway produces M2 tumor-associated macrophages. Studies have found that TAMs are related to tumor invasion, metastasis, and treatment resistance, and show potential as a new target for tumor immunotherapy. Therefore, the biological function of macrophages in lung and the role of TAMs in the occurrence, development, and treatment of lung cancer are discussed in this paper.

The fast-charging performance of conventional lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) is determined by the working temperature. LIBs may fail to work under harsh conditions, especially in the low-temperature range of the local environment or in the high-temperature circumstances resulting from the release of substantial Joule heating in the short term. Constructing a thermal engineering framework for thermal regulation and maintaining the battery running at an appropriate temperature range are feasible strategies for developing temperature-tolerant, fast-charging LIBs. In this work, we prepare phase change nanocapsules as a thermal regulating layer on the cell surface. The polyurea shells of the nanocapsules are decorated with polyaniline, where the molecular vibration of polyaniline is enhanced under solar irradiation, enabling light-to-heat conversion that achieves an effective temperature increment at low temperatures. Based on the large latent heat storage capability of the n-octadecane core in the nanocapsules, the thermal regulating layer is sufficient to modulate strong heat release when operating LIBs at a high current rate, which efficiently prevents strong side reactions at high temperatures or even the occurrence of thermal runaway. This work highlights the promise of optimizing the operating temperature with a thermal regulator to ensure the safety and performance stability of fast-charging LIBs.

It is well known that bubbles will form on a hydrophobic rough surface immersed in water, which can create a surface covered with bubbles and leads to drag reduction. However, it is still not clear how bubbles grow on the surface under flow conditions. In this work, a rotating flow field is created using a parallel-plate setup of a rotational rheometer, and sample surfaces with different roughnesses and wettabilities are examined with different shear rates. The growth of bubbles is exclusively observed on the hydrophobic rough surface, and subsequent drag reduction is also detected simultaneously. The growth of bubbles is attributed to heterogeneous nucleation in the crevices under a local pressure reduction generated by the shear flow. A geometric model is established to describe the profile evolution of the trapped bubble in the crevice based on the contact angle and the pressure balance across the gas-liquid interface, which involves the variations of the Laplace pressure resulting from changes in the local liquid pressure. The growth of bubbles on the hydrophobic rough surface does not need a large decrease of the surrounding pressure or a high moving speed, which will have potential applications in drag reduction under the condition of a moderate shear rate.

Public concern regarding safety policies serious consequences is anticipated to persist over an extended duration. A study examining a case of rapid public health policy adaptation in China during the COVID-19 epidemic was conducted by gathering public opinion data from major social media platforms. A systematic approach to comprehend public opinion was developed. Five fundamental elements and four dimensions were delineated. An indicator system was established utilizing the K-means text clustering model. Public prediction, expectation, and their evolution underlying public concern were elucidated employing TF-IDF text mining models. The HMM elucidated the way public opinion influences policy adjustments. The findings underscore that public concern regarding enduring events undergoes temporal shifts, mirroring the evolution of public opinion towards policy. Public opinion aroused by both the original event and derived events collaboratively influence policy adjustments. In China, public opinion serves as a mechanism for policy feedback and oversight; notably, negative public sentiment plays a pivotal role in expediting policy transitions. These findings aid in refining policies to mitigate emergencies through a feedback loop, thereby averting the emergence of safety risks such as social unrest prompted by public opinion.

KEY MESSAGE: A total of 38 putative additive QTLs and 55 pairwise putative epistatic QTLs for tiller-related traits were reported, and the candidate genes underlying qMtn-KJ-5D, a novel major and stable QTL for maximum tiller number, were characterized. Tiller-related traits play an important role in determining the yield potential of wheat. Therefore, it is important to elucidate the genetic basis for tiller number when attempting to use genetic improvement as a tool for enhancing wheat yields. In this study, a quantitative trait locus (QTL) analysis of three tiller-related traits was performed on the recombinant inbred lines (RILs) of a mapping population, referred to as KJ-RILs, that was derived from a cross between the Kenong 9204 (KN9204) and Jing 411 (J411) lines. A total of 38 putative additive QTLs and 55 pairwise putative epistatic QTLs for spike number per plant (SNPP), maximum tiller number (MTN), and ear-bearing tiller rate (EBTR) were detected in eight different environments. Among these QTLs with additive effects, three major and stable QTLs were first documented herein. Almost all but two pairwise epistatic QTLs showed minor interaction effects accounting for no more than 3.0% of the phenotypic variance. The genetic effects of two colocated major and stable QTLs, i.e., qSnpp-KJ-5D.1 and qMtn-KJ-5D, for yield-related traits were characterized. The breeding selection effect of the beneficial allele for the two QTLs was characterized, and its genetic effects on yield-related traits were evaluated. The candidate genes underlying qMtn-KJ-5D were predicted based on multi-omics data, and TraesKN5D01HG00080 was identified as a likely candidate gene. Overall, our results will help elucidate the genetic architecture of tiller-related traits and can be used to develop novel wheat varieties with high yields.

Microplastics are ubiquitous in the environment. Human body can be exposed to microplastics through inhalation and ingestion and some microplastics can enter the blood and accumulate in various tissues and organs throughout the body. Animal experiments have suggested that microplastics may promote atherosclerosis. However, data on microplastics in human arteries and clinical evidence supporting a link between microplastics and atherosclerosis are currently lacking. Pyrolysis-gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (Py-GC/MS) was used in this study to detect microplastics in three types of human arteries: coronary and carotid arteries with atherosclerotic plaques, as well as the aorta without plaques. Microplastics were detected in all 17 arterial samples, with an average concentration of 118.66 ± 53.87 µg/g tissue. Four types of microplastics were identified: polyethylene terephthalate (PET, 73.70%), polyamide-66 (PA-66, 15.54%), polyvinyl chloride (PVC, 9.69%), and polyethylene (PE, 1.07%). Most importantly, the concentration of microplastics in arteries containing atherosclerotic plaques, both coronary arteries (156.50 ± 42.14 vs. 76.26 ± 14.86 µg/g tissue, P = 0.039), and carotid arteries (133.37 ± 60.52 vs. 76.26 ± 14.86 µg/g tissue, P = 0.015), was significantly higher than that in aortas which did not contain atherosclerotic plaques, suggesting that microplastics might be associated with atherosclerosis in humans. This study provides valuable data for further hazard assessments of microplastics on human cardiovascular health.

INTRODUCTION: Sarcoma spinal metastases (SSM) are particularly difficult to manage given their poor response rates to chemotherapy and inherent radioresistance. We evaluated outcomes in a cohort of patients with SSM uniformly treated using single-fraction simultaneous-integrated-boost (SIB) spine stereotactic radiosurgery (SSRS). MATERIALS AND METHODS: A retrospective review was conducted at a single tertiary institution treated with SSRS for SSM between April 2007-April 2023. 16-24 Gy was delivered to the GTV and 16 Gy uniformly to the CTV. Kaplan-Meier analysis was conducted to assess time to progression of disease (PD) with proportionate hazards modelling used to determine hazard ratios (HR) and respective 95 % confidence intervals (CI). RESULTS: 70 patients with 100 lesions underwent SSRS for SSM. Median follow-up was 19.3 months (IQR 7.7-27.8). Median age was 55 years (IQR42-63). Median GTV and CTVs were 14.5 cm3 (IQR 5-32) and 52.7 cm3 (IQR 29.5-87.5) respectively. Median GTV prescription dose and biologically equivalent dose (BED) [α/ß = 10] was 24 Gy and 81.6 Gy respectively. 85 lesions received 24 Gy to the GTV. 27 % of patients had Bilsky 1b or greater disease. 16 of 100 lesions recurred representing a crude local failure rate of 16 % with a median time to failure of 10.4 months (IQR 5.7-18) in cases which failed locally. 1-year actuarial local control (LC) was 89 %. Median overall survival (OS) was 15.3 months (IQR 7.7-25) from SSRS. Every 1 Gy increase in GTV absolute minimum dose (DMin) across the range (5.8-25 Gy) was associated with a reduced risk of local failure (HR = 0.871 [95 % CI 0.782-0.97], p = 0.009). 9 % of patients developed vertebral compression fractures at a median of 13 months post SSRS (IQR 7-25). CONCLUSION: This study represents one of the most homogenously treated and the largest cohorts of patients with SSM treated with single-fraction SSRS. Despite inherent radioresistance, SSRS confers durable and high rates of local control in SSM without unexpected long-term toxicity rates.

NLRP3 involves in the development of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Eriodictyol has shown its inhibitory effect on HCC cell proliferation. However, the underlying mechanism of eriodictyol in HCC is still unclear. This study aimed to explore the effect of and mechanism of eriodictyol on HCC. In this study, compared with eriodictyol (0 µM) group, eriodictyol significantly suppressed HepG2 cells (eriodictyol of 25, 50 and 100 µM) and Huh-7 cells (eriodictyol of 50 and 100 µM) viability, invasion, tube formation, metastasis-related genes MMP3, MMP16 and angiogenesis regulator VEGFA expressions with IC50 of 45.63 µM and 78.26 µM in vitro, respectively. Besides, eriodictyol significantly repressed NLRP3 expression, and reduced the protein levels of NLRP3 inflammasome-related proteins, adapter protein ASC, caspase-1, interleukin (IL)-18, and IL-1ß in HepG2 (eriodictyol of 25, 50 and 100 µM) and Huh-7 cells (eriodictyol of 50 and 100 µM), respectively. Meanwhile, compared with control group, NLRP3 overexpression reversed the anti-metastatic effects of 100 µM eriodictyol on HCC cells invasion, tube formation, and metastasis-related genes MMP3, MMP16 and angiogenesis regulator VEGFA expressions, whereas NLRP3 knockdown enhanced the anti-metastatic effects of 100 µM eriodictyol on HCC cells. In vivo, compared with control group, eriodictyol significantly reduced the tumor growth, liver damage, inhibited the activation of NLRP3 inflammasome, and improved liver function, whereas NLRP3 overexpressing neutralized the anti-tumor effects of eriodictyol and degraded liver function. Hence, eriodictyol inhibited HCC cell viability, motility, angiogenesis and tumor growth via NLRP3 inflammasome inactivation both in vitro and in vivo.
